July 12, 2008
Earlier, I was in Lake County scouting the Echo Canyon Trail (which leads to Bull Hill) and the
Black Cloud Trailhead near Highway 82 and west of Twin Lakes.
I figured I would make a short visit to the pass.
The highlight of the visit was my capturing a shot of myself among a large snowfield.
Very pretty! I know there are many people in places like
Arizona,
Texas and
Alabama who would be astonished to see snow on July 12! |
A view of the mountains from the snowy area above. |
The nearby tundra pool close to the Independence Pass sign. |
I wonder how many times that sign is included in someone's photograph over a summer season! :) |
I stuck around to capture the sunset. |
As I was traveling up on the Lake County side at the highest switchback, I photographed what is
left of that massive snow bank. Click here to see myself standing near this spot on June 6,
just five weeks ago: Independence Pass Snow. |
